A little peak

Depression is selfish. Yes, it is many other things--debilitating, frustrating, painful, and ceaseless. However, sitting on the outside-depression is selfish. It eats joy presented to it, it tears apart happy moments and it destroys opportunities. And yet, we are supposed to support it, supposed to perk up an be happier for it, in the hopes that it will go away.
I am patient, I will dole out the happiness and the love and the support. However, depression is a drain--in its selfishness, it is pulling out what I have to give and I worry that it will eventually pull out all of it.
Depression makes me worry about worrying. It makes me angry and sad and frustrated and I wish it would go away.
So, there is a little peak into my thoughts for the day.

Everything is fine, everything will be fine. We are all doing great.

What of it?

Yep, I post once a month. Not because I have nothing to say or my life is boring, I think it is because of the opposite actually. I am a busy girl and computers are rather low on the totem pole of things that need attention.
Of course then there is this, I am a proud animal who values privacy. The combination of the two limit the stories I can tell. They take out stories about other people, stories about the nitty-gritties of my life and stories that will make me blush when I tell you in person. Yep, so for a girl who has a lot going on, I limit what I say to the Internet.

Here's a little thing though, I googled a friend's romantic interest the other day and it turns out the interest is the captain of a miniature golf team, that happens to be league affiliated. This makes me happy for my friend, it means the interest has a powerful sense of humor-which will be needed if a relationship forms, because sometimes my friend can be a pain in the ass.

Still Alive!

One of my bosses has a client who is above 80 and as spunky as a 10 year old. However, she is aware that her time is limited and has made the end of life decisions about how she should go and how her death should be treated. She is very firm on the DNR front and generally refuses any medical help beyond the most basic of preventative care and maintenance. She has decided, that when she dies, she wants to die at home, and she knows that at her age there is no telling when she will die; since she lives independently, she has made an odd request of my office, that we have been happy to fulfill.
We call her twice a week to make sure she is still alive. Tuesdays and Thursdays we give her a call at 10 a.m. to make sure she's still kicking. This is something that the whole office has become invested in, even though I am making the phone call for just one of the businesses (there are 6 businesses total)...consequently, after the call I holler out (in an office appropriate volume level)-"She's alive!"
Today is Thursday, I called this client this morning--only to find out that she wasn't doing so well...today is her birthday and she had to cancel her party because of an ear infection.

My boss is convinced she will outlive us all.

Links I Have Been Loving

I know, I am a terrible person, I don't write anything for half-of-forever and now I am just giving you some links, bad me, etc.
First, there is this- drunk history is brilliant history.
Then, this- consider this an open challenge to all my male friends for 2008.
And now, this- which will either improve or ruin the game forever.
This is for the Dutch, did you know they are willing to salt everything (even coffee)?
Here is one of the reasons why my children might turn out different.
This is pretty darn amazing, I am so glad I know people who will use it.
Also, I am a word nerd.

Ben, this one is pretty much for you. (Also, I now extend my internet congratulations to you and Nicole on the engagement)

Lastly, if you are feeling generous, I desperately want one of these, absolutely genius.

I shall have to continue this list later. Really, a lot of these links are here are to help me clean out my bookmarks (and I like sharing).
