Still Alive!

One of my bosses has a client who is above 80 and as spunky as a 10 year old. However, she is aware that her time is limited and has made the end of life decisions about how she should go and how her death should be treated. She is very firm on the DNR front and generally refuses any medical help beyond the most basic of preventative care and maintenance. She has decided, that when she dies, she wants to die at home, and she knows that at her age there is no telling when she will die; since she lives independently, she has made an odd request of my office, that we have been happy to fulfill.
We call her twice a week to make sure she is still alive. Tuesdays and Thursdays we give her a call at 10 a.m. to make sure she's still kicking. This is something that the whole office has become invested in, even though I am making the phone call for just one of the businesses (there are 6 businesses total)...consequently, after the call I holler out (in an office appropriate volume level)-"She's alive!"
Today is Thursday, I called this client this morning--only to find out that she wasn't doing so well...today is her birthday and she had to cancel her party because of an ear infection.

My boss is convinced she will outlive us all.
